Unfortunately the concept has gotten old for me.

There's some great plot twist that had me literally out loud go like what the oh my God.
Both hosts loved the character moments in this book, especially the shocking death of Hecate at Katya's hands, and felt more emotionally connected to the crew than in earlier books. But they both found the confusing train-based dungeon level hard to visualize, which made this their least favorite of the first three books even though they still rated it a solid 3.75 out of 5.

While I didn't like it as much as book one, I liked it a lot better than book two.
He enjoyed this book much more than book two, loving the humor, achievements, and returning characters like Katia. He worried for a while that it was just endless fight scenes and power-ups with no real plot, but a big turn partway through fixed that and got him excited for the next book.

I'd still like a four for me, whereas the other two were both fives.
Merphy still loves this book and the series' mix of humor and dark themes, but found this entry more chaotic and harder to follow than the first two, with so many plotlines and characters that she sometimes lost track of scenes. She still rates it a four instead of the five she gave the previous books, while praising standout scenes like Frank at the bar and the ending rescue of Carl.

At the end, I was like what is happening? It just was really complicated.
She loved the character growth and rising stakes in this book, especially Katia's arc, but the Iron Tangle level with its trains and maps got so confusing by the end that it dragged the book down in her ranking.
